Helping you beyond an assessment or diagnosis
Support Pathways
We understand that children and their parents or caregivers often need assistance after an assessment or diagnosis. Therefore, we offer different support pathways to help with this transition and beyond. These options are also available for young individuals who have not had an assessment but would like some help to navigate life and to grow and thrive in their learning and development.

CONSULTANCY
(SHORT-TERM SUPPORT)
Consultation sessions are available for the child, parent, or child's educator. Typically, this will range from one to three sessions depending on your preference. It is suited for:

Child:
-
Feedback session with child.
-
Discussing a new diagnosis, educating them about their brain, strengths, differences, and strategies that may help.
Parent:
-
Feedback session following an assessment or diagnosis. Results and recommendations will be discussed.
-
Alternatively, parents may seek support for a specific behaviour concern, learning issue, or parenting support.
Teacher/educator:
-
Feedback session of assessment or diagnosis with child's teacher. May occur annually to update child's new teacher.
-
Support for a specific learning or behaviour concern at school.

SKILL BUILDING
(MEDIUM TERM SUPPORT)
Skill building series available to be delivered one-to-one with the child. Comprises of six sessions focusing on a specific topic or skill development (with the option of up to four more sessions if needed). Topics have been designed around common issues and parent requests. They are tailored to suit the individual child:

-
Developing executive function skills
-
Building emotion regulation
-
Improving self-esteem in (and out of) the classroom.
-
Understanding and building a positive neurodivergent identity

If at the end of the program, longer term support or counselling is considered beneficial, your psychologist will discuss this with you and appropriate avenues will be suggested.

COUNSELLING
(LONGER-TERM SUPPORT)
All therapy is neuro-affirming and involves collaboration with the child's parents or caregivers. Counselling approaches are tailored to the individual and may draw on different approaches including cognitive-behaviour therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. Issues we can work with include (but not limited to)

-
behaviour issues
-
anxiety
-
school avoidance
-
peer / social difficulties
-
emotion regulation
-
self-esteem / confidence
Currently we are at capacity and unable to take on new clients for counselling.
